Ⅰ Registration Method
1. Make on-site registration and payment (Office of International Student Affairs)
You must bring the following articles:
--Passport /ID card (for Chinese minority students)
--Test fee (HSK4—450RMB、HSK5—550RMB、HSK6—650RMB)
--Photo: Test takers’ recent photo for identification (in a standard, two-inch form), and photos of daily life or landscape will not be accepted.

Ⅱ. Requirements of Photo
Whenever a test requires test takes’ photos, the photo should meet the following requirements:
Photo style requirements:
--Test Takers’ recent photo for identification, either a black and white or a color photo is acceptable, and a white background is preferred;
--Test takes’ clear front face
--Showing their full head and upper part of the shoulder
If test takes provide electronic photo:
Electronic photo specification:
--Format: JPG/JPEG
--File size: below 100KB
Upload the electronic photo
Test takers log into the website and upload the electronic photo according to the instruction, and then the photo will appear on the test admission ticket and score report. They don’t need the paper photo if they upload the electronic photo.
If test takers submit paper photo:
Paper photo specification:
--Quantity: 2-
--Size: 40mm×30mm (2-inch)
--Indication on the back of photo: name and test admission ticket No.
Test takers who don’t provide electronic photos should prepare two paper photos in accordance with the above requirements. One is pasted on the test admission ticket, the other is submitted to the invigilators on the date of test.
Ⅲ Test Admission Ticket
The content on the Test Admission Ticket should contain test taker’s name, nationality, gender, type and number of ID certificate, test subject, test date, test center, test place, instructions to test takers, etc.
After get the test admission ticket, test takers should check carefully if the information is correct and accurate and make sure that the name, gender, birth date, number of ID certificate on the test admission ticket are consistent with those on the valid ID certificate, otherwise, test takers cannot take the test.
If there is any wrong information on the test admission ticket, test takers should contact the test center to correct the information, otherwise the test is invalid.
Test admission ticket is the important proof for test takers to take the test. Test takers cannot take the test without the test admission ticket. After the test, test takers should keep the test admission ticket to get the score report. The test admission ticker No. is also required for online results query and application for extra score report.
Ⅳ Test Date Modification
After finished the test registration and paid the test fee, test takers can apply to modify test date within the specified time. However, they cannot cancel the test registration, and test place and test level cannot be modified.
Test takers log into the website (www.chinesetest.cn) and login Personal Center to apply for changing test date. The test date can be modified to any other test of the same level organized by the registration test center within the same year.
Time limit and fee to modify test date:
--Before the registration deadline (including the day of registration deadline): test takers can modify test date free of charge.
--After the deadline and 10 days in advance of test date (including the 10th day): test takers who apply for test date modification within the period should pay the service charge of 30% of test fee in advance.
--Within 10 days in advance of test date (not including the 10th day): test date modification is not accepted.
Online HSK test takers can modify test date before 27 days in advance of test date. The relevant rules are the same as that of the paper-and-pencil test.
Ⅴ Test Rules
1. Articles carried for the test
On the test date, the test taker must carry the following articles to the test room:
--Test Admission Ticket
--Personal ID Certificate with photo (copy is invalid)
--2B Pencils (two or more) and eraser
The test taker should put other personal articles in the place designated by the examiner. Please do not bring valuables to the test room, otherwise the test center will not be responsible for any missing.
The test taker who fails to provide ID Certificate and Test Admission Ticket when entering the test room will not allowed to take the test, and the test fee will not be refunded.
2. Time for Entry
The test taker should arrive at the test room half an hour before the test begins. The test taker cannot enter or leave the test room until the listening test ends.
Written Test: If a test taker is late and the listening test has not begun, the test taker can enter the test room and take the test; if a test taker is late and the listening test has already begun, the test taker needs to wait until the listening test ends, and then enter the test room to take the reading comprehension test with on additional time given; if a test taker is late and the reading comprehension test has already begun, the test taker will not be allowed to take the test.
Oral Test: If a test taker is late and the recording has not begun, the test taker can enter the test room and take the test with no additional time given; if a test taker is late and the recording has already begun, the test taker will not be allowed to take the test.
3. Test Form
(1) The test taker should take the test according to the test examiner’s arrangement.
(2) The test taker should answer the test on the Answer Sheet with 2B pencil.
(3) The oral test should be answered by recording form with independent recording devices according to the test examiner’s arrangement.
(4) The Online HSK test is computerized test with automatic timing control.
4. Test regulation
(1) Each test taker must sit at the designated seat, and has no right to choose a seat;
(2) The test taker shall follow the chief examiner’s directions, obey test regulations, and take the test independently;
(3) After the start of the test, there will be no break time provided, if during that time the test taker needs to leave the test room due to special reasons, he/she should get permission from the chief examiner. Before leaving the test room, the test taker should submit his/her Test Admission Ticket and ID Card to the chief examiner and get them back from the chief examiner when returning to the test room.
(4) Oral Test takers are not permitted to leave the test room during the test. If they choose to leave the test room, their test will be nullified.
5. Emergency Handling
(1) If the test taker is subjected to unfair treatments due to the bad management such as insufficient test time, damage to the test paper or test facilities in the test room, and the unfairness cannot be corrected by the test examiner, resulting in the test taker’ failure in completing the test, Chinese Testing International will arrange a re-test for the test taker for free as soon as possible. However, Chinese Testing International and the test centers should not bear nay indirect loss or make any compensation.
(2) If the test cannot be conducted or completed as planned due to force majeure such as natural disasters and accidents, Chinese Testing International will organized a re-test for the test taker as soon as possible or provide a full refund. However, Chinese Testing International and the test centers should not bear any indirect loss or make any compensation.
6. Absent from the Test
If the test taker does not take the test on the test date for reasons not caused by the test sponsor, the test fee shall not be refunded.
7. Violation and Punishment
The test taker shall not open the test paper beforehand, answer questions in a cross-part way, tear, change, or copy contents of the Test Paper, take the Test Paper and the Answer Sheet out of the test room, or conduct other cheating behaviors. If any test taker conducts cheating acts such as hire of a proxy to take the exam, plagiary, notes smuggled into the test room, peep of relevant materials or disobeying reasonable directions given by the test examiner during the test etc., the test taker’s score will be canceled.
Ⅵ. Test Scores
1. Score Enquiry
One month after taking the test, the test taker can log into the website at www.chinesetest.cn and type in his/her Test Admission Ticket number and name to look up his/her score.
2. Score Report
The test sponsor will send the HSK Score Reports to the test centers in 1-2 months after the test. The test taker can collect the Score Report by showing his/her Test Admission Ticket to the test center.
