6月25日上午10:00，湖北工业大学2020年夏季国际学生毕业典礼在图书馆报告厅隆重举行，本次毕业典礼共有校内44位同学到达现场，因疫情影响，校外境外的126名毕业生通过“云直播”的方式参与其中。

湖北工业大学校长刘德富教授在毕业典礼上以“Ambition, Action, Adherence”（行梦有志逐梦有行圆梦有恒）为题向2020届夏季毕业生亲切致辞。以下是致辞全文。

亲爱的同学们：

Dear graduates,

大家好！青葱岁月，时光静走，转眼间，又是一年毕业季。首先我谨代表学校向2020年夏季圆满完成学业的170名毕业生表示最热烈的祝贺，向精心培养你们的老师、向辛勤养育你们的父母、向支持你们的亲友，致以诚挚的感谢和崇高的敬意。同时，请允许我，向无法返校的80名境外学生表示深深的思念和遥远的祝福，虽然疫情阻止了我们团聚的脚步，却不能阻挡我们携手奋进、共克难关的决心。

Good morning everyone! In the lush years of youth, time goes quietly, and in the twinkling of an eye, we are at another graduation season. First of all, on behalf of Hubei University of Technology, I would like to express my warmest congratulations to the 170 graduates who successfully completed their studies in the summer of 2020. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and lofty tribute to your teachers who have trained you, to your parents who have raised you, and to your relatives and friends who have supported you. At the same time, please allow me to express my deep missing thoughts and distant blessings to the 80 overseas students who cannot return to school. Although the epidemic prevented our reunion, it cannot stop our determination to work hard together to overcome difficulties.

2020年，人类经历了第二次世界大战结束以来最严重的全球公共卫生突发事件。到目前为止，210多个国家和地区、70多亿人口深受新冠肺炎疫情的困扰，700多万人被感染，40余万人因此失去了宝贵生命。但我们始终相信，爱和希望比病毒蔓延得更快，全胜之日就在不远的将来。

In 2020, mankind has experienced the worst global public health emergency since World War II. So far, more than 7 billion people in more than 210 countries and regions have been troubled by the Covid-19 epidemic, more than 7 million people have been infected, and more than 400,000 people have lost their precious lives. But we always believe that love and hope travel faster than the virus, and the day of victory is in the near future.

或许有人会遗憾，这一次毕业，我们不能簇拥着感受毕业照的温暖，我们不能相聚着见证毕业典礼的热烈，我们许久没能在巡司河畔漫步偶遇，我们许久没能在教室里高谈阔论，我们的再见没有红着眼，我们的未来我们也不知能否再见面。疫情打破了我们习以为常的生活节奏，但同时我们更应该感恩和庆幸，我们都还平安健康地拥有彼此，感恩逆行者们给我们带来了珍贵的此时此刻，感恩这个时代让我们每个人都拥有值得去努力拼搏的梦想。

Maybe some people will regret that this time for our graduation because we can not gather to feel the warmth of the graduation photos, to witness the enthusiasm of the graduation ceremony, to walk along the riverside, to talk in the classroom for a long time, we can not say goodbye when seeing the eyes of friends, and we do not know whether we could meet again in the future. The epidemic broke our normal lives that we are accustomed to, but at the same time we should be more grateful for we all have each other in peace and health. We should be grateful for the life saviors - the ones who fought in the battle have brought us precious moments. Thanks to this era, we all have a dream worth fighting for.

作为你们的长辈和师长，我还想给即将走出校园、即将离开中国、奔赴世界各地的你们，最后再送一份祝福、一份叮咛。

As your senior and teacher, I would also like to send you a blessing and a piece of advice to you who are about to leave the campus, to leave China, and travel all over the world.

第一，希望你们把责任和奉献，汇聚成同舟共济、守望相助的磅礴力量。

疫情，以一种残酷的方式，分外真切地警示我们：人类是一个休戚相关的命运共同体。大疫当前，更显责任担当。“一家之人各放弃其责任，则家必落；一国之人各放弃其责任，则国必亡；全世界人之各放弃其责任，是世界必毁。”任何民族的崛起、国家的昌盛、乃至世界的和平，都离不开青年一代对国家、民族乃至人类的生存与发展的责任担当。亲爱的同学们！白鸽奉献给蓝天，星光奉献给长夜，而你们的青春又将奉献给谁？

The epidemic, in a cruel way, sends us an alert that human beings are a community of shared future. In the current situation, the awareness to shoulder responsibility becomes even more urgent. "If a family gives up their responsibilities, the family will fall; if people give up their responsibilities, the country will diminish; if everyone in the world give up their responsibilities, and the world will be destroyed." The rise of any nation, the prosperity of any country, the peace of the world cannot be achieved without the responsibility of the younger generation for the survival and development of the country, the nation and even humanity. Dear students! White pigeons dedicate themselves to the blue sky, starlight to the long night, and to whom will your youth be dedicated?

疫情发生后，中国采取最全面、最严格、最彻底的防控举措，像钉子一样钉在全球抗疫第一线，牢牢守护14亿人的健康安全，这是一个国家守护人民的责任和担当；成千上万医生、护士在战“疫”中闻令而动，冲锋向前，不顾个人安危和家庭困难，这是医者救死扶伤的责任和担当；我校2018届校友Peter，毕业后留校做国际学生辅导员，自疫情爆发以来，他每天背着沉重的喷雾器定时对每栋楼消毒，他每天带领志愿者给学生后勤保障，这是老师之于学生的责任和担当。疫情面前，有人远征前线，也有人守护家园；有临危不惧、挺身而出的英雄，也有默默无闻、点滴奉献的身边好人。真挚、朴实而动人的无数个故事，透露着牺牲小我、成就大我的无私精神，挑战面前，每一份牺牲和奉献都将融入民族和世界的精神血脉，化作穿越风雨的无穷力量。希望你们在奔赴祖国奉献世界的道路上，把责任担在肩膀上、把担当落在行动上，做到胸有大志、心有大我、肩有大任、行有大德。

This is the responsibility of a country to protect her people. Thousands of doctors and nurses acted in response to the appeal in the epidemic and charged forward, regardless of personal safety and family difficulties. This is the responsibility of the medical workers to save the ill and help the wounded. Our 2018 graduate Peter have been working as an international student counselor since graduation. Since the outbreak, he carried a heavy sprayer to disinfect each building regularly. He led volunteers to provide students with logistic support every day. He shows a teacher's responsibility for the students. In face of the epidemic, some people went to the frontline and some guarded their homes; there were heroes who were not afraid to stand up and came forward, and there were also some people who keep devoting silently. Countless sincere, simple and moving stories reveal the selfless spirits of sacrificing the individual for the sake of the collective. In the face of the challenge, every sacrifice and dedication will integrate into the spiritual blood of the nation and the world, and turn into an infinite force through the wind and rain. I hope that you will shoulder your responsibilities with action on the road to your motherland and to the world, strive to be ambitious, self-aware, responsible and virtuous.

第二，希望你们持自律和坚持，守护住未来可期、不负韶华的精彩人生。

Secondly, I hope that you will maintain self-discipline and perseverance, and hold fast to the idea of living up to the flush of youth in the future.

此次疫情，你们看到了中国人的自律，同时此次疫情，你们宅居在宿舍近五个月，你们也让我看到了你们的自律。新冠疫情将同学们隔离在了世界各个角落，但是你们依然能够秉持湖工大“厚德博学、求实创新”的校训精神，认真参加线上课程学习、完成毕业设计和论文答辩，顺利毕业；这一次疫情也让你们很多人做成了一些平时无法完成的事情。比如，始终无法静下心来的你，读完了角落里那本厚厚的书；比如，曾经觉得学习汉语难如登天的你们，hsk三级测试却拿了高分；又比如，你经过几个月的尝试，决定从此把运动和健身作为自己日后必须坚持的事业……这些，无不告诉我们，自律和坚持，可以改变现状，达成目标，让我们成为更好的自己。

In this epidemic, you have seen the self-discipline of Chinese people. At the same time, you have stayed in your dormitory for nearly five months. You have also let me see your self-discipline. The epidemic has isolated the students at different corners of the world, but you still adhere to the HBUT school motto of "Cultivate Virtue, Enrich Knowledge, Seek Truth, Be Innovative", earnestly participate in online courses, complete graduation design and thesis defense, and graduate successfully. This time, the epidemic has also made many of you do things that you cannot achieve before. For example, the past difficult-to-focus you have finished reading the thick book in the corner; you used to feel that learning Chinese is as difficult as reaching the stars, but this time you got a high score in the HSK level 3 test; you decided to make sports and fitness as a career that you must stick to in the future after a few months of trying. All these tell us that self-discipline and perseverance can help us change the status quo, achieve goals, and make us a better self.

疫情虽然改变了大家求学的方式，却更凸显出那些因自律和坚持而守住心境、突破困境的难能可贵。同学们即将走上工作岗位，没有了学校的上课铃，没有了师长的督促，没有了考试，如何秉承自律，便是掌握自己人生的关键。希望同学们增强自律意识、加强自我修养、提高自控能力，做到在任何情况下都稳得住心神、管得住行为、守得住清白；在立场上把握方向、在感情上把握原则、在行动上把握分寸、在生活上把握小节。

Although the epidemic has changed the way people study, it has also highlighted the value of maintaining the peaceful state of mind and breaking through difficulties through self-discipline and persistence. You are about to go to work, without the bells in classrooms, without teachers' supervision, without exams, and how to uphold self-discipline becomes the key to mastering your lives. I hope that you could enhance your self-discipline, self-cultivation, and self-control ability, so that you can keep up your minds, behaviors, and peace in any situation, find the correct direction from the standpoint, grasp the principles in emotion, be cautious in action, and pay due attention to the details in life.

阴阴夏木，啭啭黄鹂，四年的时光，你们用青春、智慧、勤奋、努力为母校注入了新的活力，你们用朝气、无畏、勇敢、执着为母校带来了勃勃生机，母校感恩与你们在巡司河畔的际遇，感恩你们穿山越岭、披荆斩棘带给我们的震撼与欣喜。在这毕业之时、离别之际，我希望你们也能怀感恩之情、包容之心去探索世界、追逐梦想、发现人生。

In the past four memorable years, you used youth, wisdom, diligence and hard work to contribute vitality to your alma mater. Thank you for the encounter on the banks of Xunsi River, for the shock and joy you brought us after arduous journey you made. At this moment of graduation and parting, I hope you will explore the world, chase your dreams, and discover life with gratitude and tolerance.

疫情当下，在这个特殊的毕业季，我们面临着更多的困难和挑战，也抱有更多的遗憾与不舍，但是，我们湖工大学子是乐观和勇敢的化身，是感恩与宽容的化身。在今年全校抗疫战场上，我们的国际学生，用行动诠释着感恩。孟加拉撤侨的当天，志愿者SONY和ANTU主动放弃撤侨，要求留下来继续跟老师们一起工作，他们说“我们有困难的时候，中国帮助了我们，现在中国有困难，我们要留下来和中国一起共渡难关”。他们每天往返于各大商场超市，为的是给留校的学生筑牢生活保障，而且，这一坚守，就是五个月。而他们只是众多志愿者中的代表，他们的故事感动着我们，也感染着身边人，我相信所有的困难只会让我们的学子愈挫愈勇，所有的挫折只会让我们更加感恩和珍惜当下所有！

In the current situation of epidemic control, and also athe special graduation season, we are confronted with more difficulties and challenges, and we also have more regrets and reluctance. However, the graduates of HBUT are the embodiment of optimism and courage, of gratitude and tolerance. In this year's anti-epidemic battlefield, our international students exhibit gratitude with action. On the day of Bengali students evacuation, volunteers SONY and ANTU gave up the chance to leave and volunteered to stay and continue to support their teachers. They said, “When we were in difficulty, China helped us. Now that China is in difficulty, we want to stay and China will ride through the difficulties together." They go to and fro between major shopping malls and supermarkets every day in order to provide a livelihood guarantee for the students on campus, and they persisted for five months. They are representatives of numerous volunteers. Their stories touch us and infect the people around them. I believe that all the difficulties will only make our students more courageous and brave, and all the setbacks will only make us a more grateful attitude!

全世界的疫情仍在蔓延，全人类也在经受前所未有的苦难和挑战，无论同学们将来身处何处，希望你们永远能够感恩我们有幸成为这场疫情的见证者和幸存者，并希望你们永远能够怀着包容之心去接纳这场疫情带给我们的痛楚，尝试去理解疫情肆虐之下全世界各国的防控的非常措施！更重要的是，我希望这种感恩之心与宽容的胸怀能伴随你们一生，助你们更好地认知这个世界，丰富自己的内心，成就自己的梦想，收获更加充盈、饱满的人生！

习主席在给巴基斯坦留学生的回信中希望广大留学生能够“多了解中国、多向世界讲讲你们所看到的中国”，湖工大国际学子定然能够在世界各个角落“讲好中国故事”，因为你们在这里见证了中国的坚定团结，见证了中国人民的热情友好，收获了湖工大师生的珍贵情谊。我希望你们能够以己之情，架起中国人民与世界人民美好友谊的主桥梁，促进民心相通，开拓世界和平；希望你们常怀奉献勤勉之心，以己之力，激发中国人民与世界人民共同进步的总动力，推动和谐发展，加快人类命运共同体建设！

In the letter to Pakistani international students, President Xi hoped that the international students would “know more about China and tell the world more about what you see in China”, and the international students of HBUT would certainly be able to “tell Chinese stories” in every corner of the world because you have witnessed China's firm unity, the warmth and friendship of the Chinese people, and the precious association with HBUT faculty and staff. I hope that you can build the main bridge of the beautiful friendship between the Chinese people and the people of the world with your own feelings, promote the communication and the world peace; I hope that you will always dedicate diligence and use your own strength to inspire the Chinese people and the people of the world of the driving force of common progress, promote harmonious development, and accelerate the construction of a Community of Shared Future for Mankind!

行梦须有志，责任与奉献是梦想的“称重机”；逐梦须有行，自律和坚持是梦想的“试金石”；圆梦须有恒，感恩与包容是梦想的“加油站”。在追逐梦想的路上，你们是远航的水手，母校是你们永远美丽而又温馨的一道港湾。当你们在航行中感到疲惫、迷茫、或者孤单的时候，欢迎你们回到母校来，在这个温馨的港湾停一停、歇一歇，消除疲劳、赶走迷茫、加满油料、添足淡水再次起航

Dreams could only be achieved with perseverance. Responsibility and dedication are the "weighing machines" of dreams. Dreams could only be fulfilled with action. Self-discipline and persistence are the "touchstones" of dreams. Dreams could only be accomplished with constance. Gratitude and tolerance are the "power station" of dreams. On the path of chasing dreams, you are sailors on a voyage, and your alma mater is always a beautiful and warm port. When you feel tired, confused, or lonely during the voyage, you are welcome to come back to your alma mater, have a rest in this warm harbor, drive away fatigue and the confusion, fill up with energy and then again set sail.

同学们！不管时空如何变幻，无论世事如何变迁，在未来十年、二十年甚至更长的时间轴上，在相去万里、各在天涯的地域坐标中，在面对明日山岳相隔、故人相会无期的伤感别离中，你们永远是湖工大与世界相接的交点，你们永远是湖工大不变的牵念！同学们，毕业快乐，永远祝福你们！

My dear students! No matter how greatly the time and space change, how dramatically your situation alters in the next ten years, twenty years or even in a longer period, you will always be the intersection between HBUT and the world, you will always be on the mind of HBUT though we are eveneloped by the sadness cause by the distance of continents apart.
